I was asked by a co-worker to make this cake for her dad's 50th birthday. He is into archery, so we designed the cake around that theme. It was made of chocolate cake and buttercream icing. The arrows were created with fondant around candy sticks. I was told that everyone enjoyed the cake and left with black lips. I warned you!

Valentine Cupcakes
These yummy cupcakes were done for my son's class for Valentine's Day. Yes, I know it is September, but as I included in the "About Me" section of this blog, I am a horrible blogger. So anyway, these delicious mini-cupcakes were made of vanilla cake and buttercream icing. I topped them off with fondant hearts. This was my first attempt with anything fondant. I was just experimenting, but the kids loved them!
SchmoJo's Cake
This cake was made for a bridalshower for my sweet friend
Joann. Her colors were orange
and fuscia. At first I thought,
"Wow, really?" Then I realized
how much fun I could have with this.
The colorful design really
popped against the brownbackground. Instead of words,
I just added the bride and groom's
monogram to the cake design.

MOE Cake
I am so proud of this cake. It was my very first wedding cake. It was for a very sweet couple, Morgan & Elisabeth. The bride did not want a traditional wedding cake, so this is what we came up with. The colors were chosen to match the bride's maids' dresses which were brown and the accent color of green. The monogram does spell "MOE", but the couple found this amusing. The cake itself was made of French Vanilla cake, cream cheese icing, and chocolate fudge was used for the detail work. And it was yummy!

Birthday Cake & Groom's Cake
Okay, so I know that "birthday" is misspelled, but the cake turned out so cute. It was a white cake with cream cheese icing. The birthday girl enjoyed it, misspelling and all.

I am really proud of this cake.
This groom's cake was a
chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The bride provided a picture of a similar cake done in fondant. Since I do not work with fondant, I had to figure out how to make icing work.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

At the time, my son was not hooked on any particular character, but his favorite color was red. So for his first birthday, my sister and I made this Clifford cake. This cake was made with one chocolate and one yellow sheet cake placed side by side. The shape was cut out freehand. Buttercream icing was used to decorate.

Spiderman Cake & Cookies

This Spiderman cake was a two-layered French vanilla cake with buttercream icing. When Layton saw it for the first time, his reaction was, "Whoa, Mom! My cake is cool!" Enough said.
The Spiderman cookies were for his class at school. They were sugar cookies with buttercream icing. They were a big hit!
